Terry’s Standalone Shop

My shop is located next to my home in Belize, Central America. As a missionary, I am using my years of experience as a carpenter to teach young men the trade of wood working. This enables them with the skills needed to go out and work to provide for their families while also instilling a good work ethic and Christian values in them.

It has been almost a year since the workshop opened and has grown to the large building you see in the pictures. I am grateful to be able to share this craft with others on a daily basis.

Wow, Thanks for all the kind words and support of what we are doing. I have really wanted to sit down and write letters to some companies asking them to partner with us in what we are doing and check if there where any grants or donation of supplies they could help us with. Such as saw blades, earplugs, masks, glue, drill bits, clamps, etc. I just haven’t been able to justify the the time to do so, and I really wouldn’t know where to start. God has blessed us so much just to be able to be here at this point in our lives to share what has been instilled in us.
If anyone has any suggestions or info, please share it with us.
I feel we are at war with the world as it continues to try and discourage us, and the ones we are trying to raise up to better themselves. We are soldiers in the field, and desire a great army to back us up.

Terry: Fantastic use of your skills to better the life of others. I noticed the young man using his T shirt as a dust mask in one photo. Could you send me an address so that I can send you a donation to buy dust masks, eye and hearing protection for your students or I will buy a dozen or so of each and ship them to you. Send the info to: renatsch @ cox.net. I would like to help out.

Woodworking bridges all cultural gaps/barriers. What a great thing to share !! you are going to teach a “maloof” of belize one day.

Wonderful facilities. I helped in one of these type of shops year ago (San Salvador), but your’s looks like it’s a much better program.

I wish we could do this in inner city US also. I’m sure there are programs, but I don’t know where, who, etc.

Anytime you or anyone would like to come to Belize and share your talents with these young men. You will always be welcome.

Nothing like teaching young men to be like Jesus both in Sprit and Carpentry. Keep up the great work and God Bless you.

A laudable undertaking, Terry; it must be tremendously rewarding to see the results of your work.

I’m curious about the products you turn out at the workshop. Seems to be some sort of production line and with just basic woodworking tools.

    Keep up the good work
    Doug

    • Doug, we make souvenir bats and cutting boards out of native exotic hardwoods on a daily bases. We sell them to mission teams that visit from time to time. This helps pay the electric bill. We are working on a way to ship them to the states to sell as fund raising. But that’s not all.
We are always making desk, chairs , cabinets , beds. What ever schools and local missionaries need. We are a non profit. Staying busy with different projects. The goal is to be self sustainable. Check out our website. Kingswaymissionsofbelize.com

What a blessing you are Terry! Reminds me of the old Chinese proverb “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” You are giving these young men the skills and tools they need to change their lives forever. May God continue to bless and keep you.
