This is a keepsake box I made for my girlfriend. The plan is from a magazine and I decided on flocking the inside of the box instead of just using felt. This is my first time using veneers and inlay banding. I am pretty happy with how it turned out and am learning a ton. After making many of Marc’s clocks, I am getting the mitered splines down! Thanks for all you do!

Very nice! I love the inlay and burl top.
It gives me some inspiration for a humidor I wan to make out of dogwood. I harvested a small tree last summer and it would be great for something small.

I have been looking for a similar box to be used for stationery. I have friends that recently lost their 6 month old daughter. I would like to give them a stationery box so that they could write their daughter a letter on her birthday every year. I don’t know if you have read the book “The Christmas Box” but in that story a woman continued to write letters to the daughter she had lost. I also have another friend who did this many years ago and found it to be healing while still honoring the child she had lost. Have you made any of these boxes to sell?

  I only made about 3-4 boxes and gave them all away as gifts. That’s a very touching idea and perhaps a slightly larger version of this box would be a nice option.

  My website shows a box I made for my granddaughter to contain letters I had written to her as a toddler. I gave it to her on her 20th birthday with the letters contained in the 4 compartment base.

How do I find someone to make keepsake boxes for my grandsons. I watched The Wood Whisperer make these on video but can’t find anyone in my area who wants to do it?
