Not Your Average Pine End Table – Viewer Project

This Viewer Project come from Ken in Ottawa. Let’s check it out:

100_4712I am sending you some photos of one of my latest projects for the project of the week. It is inspired by your End Table project but with a twist. First a little background. The wood working club I belong to. The Ottawa Woodworking Association (OWA) last year had our first 2X4 competition. The basic idea is to take one standard construction grade pine 2X4X8â

Beautiful table, very nicely done !

How did you secure the top to the legs ?

    • Ken June 4, 2009

Runningwood, the top is secured to the base with #6 3/4 or 1″screws, two for each leg then plugged with pine plugs. Thanks all for the kind words. As I said, I really like doing these kinds of challenges as it ends up being more of a design challenge then a construction one.

When I clicked to the first picture with the finish applied from the one before, I was stunned. Very nice and clever use of one board.

Your wood club met in December? Marc wasn’t kidding when he said he was behind on Projects of the week!

Very nice table. Just looking at the pic I would have never guessed it was made from a single pine board!!

    Very creative.

  5. You know whats great about this…It kicks the thought of “eh pine” out the door. Just goes to show that it’s not the wood, it’s the worker. I think I should pantent that.

    Great work!

Perhaps you should feign amnesia and say that you actually bought that table and then build another, less fabulous table and put that in the auction.

Pretty cool, considering you only used a scroll saw pretty much as far as power tools.

Nice table, I really like the finish, what did you use?
