Modern Entertainment Center – Viewer Project

I love the modern style of this piece. Jonathan has creatively solved some common organizational issues with today’s home entertainment systems. And his wood choice, colors, and finish are great! Let’s check it out:

Well Marc I’ve been watching all your videos and reading up for a couple months now and I finally built up the confidence to take on a “big” project. I saw a design for a bookcase which I really liked and decided to incorporate it into the entertainment center. I used Ash and Peruvian Walnut. Only the panels for the doors are veneered MDF. I had to hand cut the notches in the shelf support and cut it to 10 degrees so my DVR would fit. Finished only with two coats of shellac with a 220 grit sanding in between. Just wanted to say thanks for the great and most helpful videos. Keep up the great work.

Love this look. I have built a lower part to my entertainment center and have been looking at inspiration for the upper part. This has given me a great idea! Thanks Marc for posting and Jonathan for sharing!

Now that’s entertainment! Very nice wood selection. It’s good that your VCR forced you to cut a 10 deg angle on the support piece. It makes it look even more modern.

I really like the contrast of the wood. The clean lines on the cabinet look great too!

    Nice Enterainment center!

I really like the use of opposing colored woods. BTW you might want to consider entering this project in the Winter 2010 Lumberjocks Contest. I recall the contest is based on Ying~Yang in woodworking, and your projects dual color fits that perfectly..
