Kerry’s Vanity

My wife and I recently worked together on a project for our 9 year old god daughter. Her mother informed us that she could use a vanity to start keeping her “girl” stuff in. We started with a simple idea on paper. Then moved onto initial construction. Stained the piece. Of course it needed a mirror. And finally got finished in time for Christmas. Oh, yea. We made and upholstered the stool as well. We used some of your finishing tips (used a wipe on varnish for the first time) and are very happy with results.

yeah, what was her reaction Kerry? I often wonder, when we make things for children, whether the truly appreciate it or if they see it as “just a piece of furniture”.

She LOVED it! She was in shock as she had asked her parents for one for Christmas – she uses it everyday to do her hair and her homework! She tells us every time she moves it to a new place in her room. Kerry did an amazing job on this! I’m only a little biased!

Ahhh, the joys of Christmas…The happiness and smiles on her face just made every second invested in the vanity worth more than anything. She will enjoy the vanity for a long time. I bet it made her feel like an adult getting her own piece of furniture that wasn’t pink and plastic. Well done.

It is brilliant, and another gift that comes from the heart. The look on her face must have made your day

My daughter really wants me to build one of these for her but it is beyond my skills at this point. Well Done!!!!

What was all that white stuff you could see in the background through the window?

    “Kerry’s Vanity” –

I must be reading too much news. I thought for sure that you were referring to John Kerry’s vanity: the MA senator’s 7 million dollar yacht that he was trying to dock in RI to avoid paying taxes. The headline caught my eye in a woodworking blog!

I am sure you made that little girl very happy! We have something like that in our bedroom and my 7yr old daughter loves it, girls will be girls.
