I am a beginner in wood working and wanted to share with you a File Hanger that I built. It is made out of Maple and Walnut. It took two months to finish. I first made full scale parts of MDF to see how it would fit together. That process helped me to see the proper steps to take and kept me from ruining the more expensive hardwoods. I hope you enjoy it.

Hanging File
Very cool project – both the construction and the finishing.
Looks great are they all made individually then attached or do they have a common backing. Great job for a beginner keep up that knid of work and you won’t have to call yourself a beginner anymore.
I like it. I need something like that in my ‘reading’ room.

Thanks to all of you for the positive feedback. To answer the two main questions… This was made as separate units with one unified rabbit holding a 1/4″ piece of plywood on the back. It was finished with Old Masters natural stain and then spray poly-urethane.
