This is my 2 car garage shop. I’ve had it for about a year. Its been through a few reworks/re-equips, re-designs etc. but I now have everything the way I like and with the addition of the split roubo its a pleasure to work in.
I insulated the door with R-13.5 insulation and installed an A/C unit which is a necessity here in South Carolina with the high humidity. All of the dust collection runs along the one wall where my sliding table saw, bandsaw and planer are. Everything is either on wheels or has a mobile base so if anything needs to be moved its pretty easy.
I use an 4″x 4″ lift to store small pieces/cut-offs on the ceiling to save space. As you can see, everything is usable without movement with exception to the planer which is wheeled to the center of the room for larger pieces. Thanks for looking!

The pc drill is a great value it has served me well
Thanks but I moved around a little again for better use of the bandsaw I wonder if mark will let me update the photos
Nice shop. Some of your layout will be helping me reorganize mine.
Nice work space. The tool cabinet is great as is the bench. How do you like the PC Drill Press? From my comparison to the Grizzly models the PC seems to be a better value. What are your thoughts?
Joe – You can contact me at retvetmarty@gmail.com. Would enjoy it.
Jamming in Joe’s Garage…. Nice set up!!!!! ( Could not help the Frank Zappa reference)
I have just a little 11000 btu portable unit from costco it works very good but i would rather have something built in if i had a choice but it was the best option for me it keeps it about 72′ the shop right now on low.
As far as the my sliding saw well that was like reinventing the wheel for me for saws it makes using a table saw waay safer because my hand dont do any of the stock feeding
i just clamp what ever im cutting down to the sliding table and just give the table a push.
a tenyru 1/8 blade and 5hp cuts like butter =)
i really think it has upped the consistency of my woodworking
with my old jet saw i always felt like i was shooting pool.
it looked like i had it cutting right but everything always seem just a bit off, i was alway bumping or adjusting my way to the right dimensions.
where the grizzly is a set it and forget it thing, its really good at batching pieces out.
you wont need any jigs or featherboards
the only time you use it like a regular cabinet saw is for rips over 6 feet.
sorry im going on, its still got that new car smell…
we will have to hook up sometime marty
I thought i was the only guy in town here that plays with wood.
Enjoy your trip to myrtle beach Lee
good job in the small space … I have about the same space, but also park the vehicle in there. ‘Nuf said!! We all know how that plays out.
Great looking shop. BTW, I heading to Myrtle Beach in the morning for family vacation!
Great shop Joe. I concur with the A/C. I’m another Myrtle Beach area woodworker that needs both the cool and the heat to keep the shop going all year.
Man…she might be small but she’s load with some quality stuff. Great job with the limited space you have.
Nice shop!
How does that sliding table saw compare to most high end cabinet saws?
Don
Joe- great shop! How do you like the sliding table saw? I’m just discovering them and it really seems like a great idea….Rusty
I’m in NC, and am planning a similar shop, in a two car detached garage already built but not finished. Once I have finished the … finishing, what kind of AC would you recommend? I’ve been thinking of either a mini split or HTAC. With a heat pump because it can get pretty cold in the winter, although that’s definitely not as harsh as the heat and humidity can get in the summer.
that is a really nice shop , i really like your tool cabinet
