Dustin’s Workshop – Shop Tour

This week’s shop comes from Dustin. Let’s see what he has to say:

Now that my workshop is sufficiently messy, I figured that it would be a good time to take some pics.  Here is my shop…It used to be a single car garage, but we all know how that goes.  Due to strategic maneuvering akin to the best international politics, I have secured a shop.  Most of the tools are hand me downs/Craigslist restores.  I am in the process of finishing the tablesaw station and several other “workshop” projects before I build a dresser for the coming addition of a daughter to the family.  Hope you enjoy.

I like the hanging tool box! Well Done. That is alot of drills!

That is perhaps one of the most creative uses of staircase railing I’ve seen in a while. I live it. And thank you, you gave me a brilliant idea. My tablesaw station looks very much like yours, except that I don’t have that angled piece underneath it to direct falling dust to the back. I’m off to the shop now to shovel out the twelve pounds of sawdust in the bottom of my cabinet and install one now!

    Dustin
Make sure your daughter is awake before you turn on those tools!

Thanks guys. I do what I can. Our daughter arrived a week ago, and I haven’t been in the shop since. Hopefully I’ll get in there this weekend.
The table saw is a Rockwell, I just took off the bottom stand and routed the dust collection through the bottom.

  5. Hey Dustin,

Your shop is a bit messy but it takes me all of 5 minutes to get my clean shop to look like we had an earthquake. I bet you know where every last thing is too. Good to see some people out there ‘securing’ spaces in their home for the past time they love.

  6. You have the same air filter system I do ! two fans with filters on them! lol, Nice to see someone else with a small shop

Good idea getting a shop together before the daughter comes. It’s hard to justify large purchases for yourself when you have a little one, trust me. That is the reason i have a 60 dollar router and a 150 dollar tablesaw.

Well Dustin your shop is messy but what work-in-progress shop isn’t. I to just played the political game and aquired a 2 car garage. It would have been easier to bargan’ with that Sarah Palin. I gave up a bunch for it and very proud of it as I know you are with yours. Best of Luck!!!!!!!!!!

Messy? at least u can see the tops surfaces! Nice workshop though. I got a single car garage and I’m still trying to get it right.

real nice shop lots of ryobi but i also by most of my tools of craigs list i have got a old wood scroll saw from the 60′s for a for a 5 year old junky camera and then refinshed it i also refinesed a old lathe
but what kind of table saw is that?

  11. Allen Lindsey (AlleninOH) September 17, 2008

Didn’t AC/DC do a song called “Whole Lotta Ryobi”? Four cordless drills, two circ saws… can you drive screws with both hands at the same time, because that would be awesome.

Seriously, nice use of the space. Even the bannister of the staircase is taken advantage of.
