Learn How To Build A Dining Chair

Post - April 7, 2017

Chairs are one of the most intimidating woodworking projects. Fortunately, they aren’t as difficult as you might think and you don’t need all kinds of crazy joinery tools to make them. In this unique Guild Build, I’ll show you exactly how I build a chair prototype from start to finish. By the end, you’ll not only have a set of templates and plans, you’ll also be armed with the knowledge to modify the plans so that you can make the chair truly your own.

We just released the first episode in this series today and will release new episodes every Friday until the project is complete. Today’s lesson is on Extracting Details, where I evaluate three existing chair designs and cherry-pick details and dimensions I want to include in my new chair. Next, we’ll actually draw the plans. This will be an instructional series like you’ve never seen before!
