Our local Woodcraft (Chandler, Arizona), is once again having its Woodworking Expo & Contest. Basically, a fun-filled day where everything is 15% off, vendors are hanging out in the parking lot, and free clinics are being conducted in the store. Local woodworkers will also submit projects for judging and the winner receives a pretty sweet prize. I believe it was a Jet tablesaw last year! The event will be on Saturday, Jan. 29th, from 7am – 6pm. Special guests include myself, and the incomparable David J. Marks! We’ll both be doing demos all day long.
We have a special offer for folks who plan on attending. Simply print out the coupon below and receive a Best of the Guild 2009 DVD for FREE! Print it, show up, hand it to one of the TWW crew, and you got yourself a sweet $49 DVD!! In addition, when you hand in your coupon, you’ll be entered into a little drawing for a free TWW Schwag Bag, full of lots of TWW goodies. Wow, I have a lot of traveling to do! Actually, I don’t travel all that much and my trips are limited to only a few a year. I know too many woodworkers who make their living teaching on the road, and frankly that’s not a life I envy. But I will go to select places when the opportunity arises and the situation is right. Unfortunately, I can’t just say, “I’m going to [insert city here]!”. I need to be invited and hosted by a store or woodworking club.

Completely off subject(sorry). Marc, what program did you use to create the coupon above? It looks great and I am doing some work on my website and need a good graphics program.
I use a special program called, “Hire someone else to do the work.” haha. I gave up on making my own graphics and images a long time ago. I’ll see if I can find out what Funk uses.
Adobe Photoshop is pretty much the standard for doing work like that. Possibly Adobe InDesign, or Adobe Illustrator as well. There are some other names out there, but Adobe pretty much has the market wrapped up there. I’m kind of surprised Apple hasn’t released anything to compete given their continuing success in the video editing market.

Hey Marc,
When are you going to get setup with WoodCraft so that the Guild members get discounts? I do most of my buying with Woodcraft and it would be great to get a little off. Every little bit helps.
I’ll see if I can give them a call. Honestly I just don’t have any many contacts within Woodcraft as I do within Rockler.

What sort of things do you demo? Also, congrats on having a “crew”! Next you’ll have an “entourage”!
They requested I cover finishing again like I did last year. I think its because they see Arm-R-Seal flying off the shelves. :)
