TWW Now on TV in Charlotte, NC!

old_tvLooks like UNC in Charlotte, NC is now airing episodes of The Wood Whisperer. If you are local, you might want to check the schedule here:
UNC TV Schedule

I will try to keep you guys posted as more and more stations are starting to broadcast the show. Unfortunately, of the nearly 70 or so stations that downloaded episodes, only a handful let us know if/when they run them. If anyone happens to catch us on TV, be sure and let me know!

Congrats Marc!! Syndication! Syndication! Syndication! I would love to see you on PBS bro! I would set my DVR for some Wood Whisperer!

  2. Gary A August 6, 2009

Yeah, nothing’s gonna beat the HD version on the AppleTV. Definitely the way to go!

  3. Sharon August 6, 2009

Fantatstic! Congratulations for breaking into yet another medium – and in a positive way ;)

when is the “TWW – The comic book” coming out? (I know this is just waiting to happen…)

curious – do stations that download your episodes contact you and inform you that they did/organized? how does that work?

  4. GoldenLeaf August 6, 2009

    See you Friday at 8:30
    So how does it work?
You find them or they find you.

lots of woodworkers here. Roy Underhill building or has built a school recently. Some other schools in the mountains too.

    Congratulations

We were invited to participate on a site called PegMedia.org. They basically provide a service for public access stations that allows them to download TV-ready web content. So I have to completely re-edit and re-format the videos and upload them to PegMedia. Then the stations just download whatever they want. Its pretty cool!

  5. David August 6, 2009

Saw ya last week on the UNCC channel. Was a pleasant surprise.

  6. GoldenLeaf August 6, 2009

Sorry here at the library, very slow, didn’t think it posted. apparently I was wrong.

No problem. Also keep in mind the comments are all moderated. So posting may be slow depending on how fast I can get to them.

  7. Germain August 6, 2009

Great news, Marc. BTW, I really dig that picture of the chick between the TVs. Classic, classic.

  8. Hoverman August 6, 2009

I think the show is professional enough to be picked up by the ABC here in Aus! At the very least SBS would broadcast it!

Actually, you could probably get a segment on one of the lifestyle programs on a commercial channel.

  9. Marty August 6, 2009

Congrats again, dude. Do you get compensated for this or is it a freebie? Then again, Powermatic and Festool have got to be sportin’ some serious wood over this news! ;)

    •
      thewoodwhisperer August 6, 2009

Thanks dude. Unfortunately there really isn’t any money in public television or cable access. I am just thankful for the exposure. And Powermatic is thrilled. Festool is no longer a sponsor of the show but since these are older episodes, their tools will still be seen in use. So I would hope they are happy about it. :)

      • Marty August 6, 2009

Wow, I am stunned that Festool no longer sponsors your show! Is this a recent event? Maybe if those German’s would have a f@#*ing sale every once in a while they would make enough cash to keep TWW rightfully supported.

Well they were only in the first half of 2009, so it wasn’t a big surprise or anything. And you know, business is business and the economy is no one’s friend these days. Maybe some day in the future we’ll be able to welcome them back on board. We do have a new sponsor coming on board though. Can’t say much about just yet, but its a great fit and we are really excited about it.

  10. Jim Jones August 6, 2009

I think the TV idea is cool. I hope it blossoms for you and N.

    Marc, u da mon.

  11. Good to see you are getting more exposure and recognition for your hard work Marc.
Good luck with continual growth in your business.

  12. Chester August 6, 2009

You’re hitin’ the big time dude!

  13. There’s a word for this, well kind of a word, it’s got some numbers in it… what is it again… oh yeah…

    w00t!!!

  14. Dan August 6, 2009

Watch out Norm…just don’t start wearing flannel shirts. Well…maybe once would be funny.

  15. ericandcandi August 6, 2009

Well Mark, at least we can all say we knew ya before all of the bright lights, limos, and million dollar homes……Just don’t forget about us little guys.

  16. Claude Stewart August 7, 2009

Good for you Marc. This is really a testament to the quality of your video that you put out. I try to watch numerous wood working videos and yours are the only ones I’ve found that the production is really up there. Some are not even watchable.

  17. Claude Stewart August 7, 2009

Ops, I’m pretty sure that your woodworking skills are up there too.

  18. Bill Akins August 7, 2009

Congratulations Marc. I live in Atlanta but my Dad picks up UNC. I’ll have to watch it next time I’m up there.

  19. Patrick A August 7, 2009

Good for you, Marc. That’s some great exposure and a sure step toward the big(ger) time. In my book you are definitely the 21st century’s younger, hipper Norm. Maybe with your help woodworking will get to be as popular as say…knitting!

  20. Hey Mark, your videos have been a great help to me as I have stared to dip my toes into the world of woodworking. I hope this new market helps more people like me who are just beginning.

  21. Goldenleaf August 8, 2009

Weird, I have UNC channel, live 3 hours from charlotte yet I don’t see it in my programming. Apparently I will not see TWW on TV. The programming on the website does not match what my Guide displays.

  22. jHop August 9, 2009

Out of hopeful curiosity, has there been any consideration of any collaborations with other woodworking names out there?

(or another road trip video coming?)

I think most of us would be tickled pink, chartreuse, and mauve to see you do one with Norm, but I know I like watching some of the other “road trip” or interview videos you have.

      thewoodwhisperer August 9, 2009

Well, never say never. But we don’t really have the budget to specifically make trips for things like that. So usually if I am traveling to a certain area for something else, I try to add something woodworking-related onto the schedule. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll actually be able to budget a certain number of trips per year!

  23. Dave O August 15, 2009

Mark, just found you this week on Charter Cable up here in Watertown, WI. I missed this week’s episode, but will tape next weeks.
